Description
The Beebe Fellowship program, administered by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, provides an opportunity for a scientist to contribute to the fundamental science at the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF) in Hiroshima, Japan, over a period of 3-6 months.
Beebe Fellowships will facilitate the academic, intellectual, and professional development of individuals who have demonstrated superior scholarship and an established career studying the health effects of radiation on human health or having expertise relevant to advancing this field. This professional development opportunity will provide Fellows with valuable experience working with the longest studied cohort of individuals exposed to ionizing radiation and an opportunity to work in person with RERF scientists in Japan. While helping to advance the pathbreaking work of RERF, the Fellow will become immersed in research related to the atomic-bomb survivors and their offspring and will lay the foundation for potential future collaborative activities between the Fellow and RERF scientists. The goal is for the fellowship to be an ongoing activity.
