Project Comments and Information

Provide Comments on a Project

The web page of every National Academies’ project has a Provide Feedback button to allow for feedback, comments, and input to be provided at any time over the project’s duration to provide comments to the National Academies.

Provide Comments on Provisional Committee Appointments

The appointments made to committees subject to Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) Section 15 are provisional until relevant information bearing on the committee’s composition and balance is fully evaluated. When a provisional committee is first appointed, or if new members are appointed to the committee at any point during its duration, a 20-calendar day formal public comment period is opened to allow for feedback. It is through this process that we determine if the committee contains the requisite expertise to address its task and if the points of views of individual members are adequately balanced such that the committee as a whole can address its charge objectively. Even after the public comment period on a provisional committee has ended, comments or feedback on the project may be communicated with the National Academies at any time over the project’s duration using the Provide Feedback button available on each project web page.

Request Project Information

A list of all written materials provided to a committee by external sources for consideration during its deliberations is maintained for all projects and activities subject to Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) Section 15. Use the Request Materials button on the project web page or contact the Public Access Records Office (paro@nas.edu) to obtain a copy of the list and request copies of the materials. Copies of materials are free to the press and government employees.
