Greenhouse gases (GHGs), like carbon dioxide and methane, are a major contributor to climate change. Increasing emissions are driven by human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, agriculture, and manufacturing. While technology for measuring GHG emissions has improved, it remains challenging to collect data on carbon flux in natural systems. Integrating AI tools into GHG emissions monitoring could be key to optimizing emissions information systems and models. Join the National Academies Roundtable on AI and Climate Change for a webinar series that will outline how AI can be leveraged to enhance the accuracy and accessibility of GHG emissions monitoring.

This webinar series is an activity of the National Academies Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence & Climate Change. The Roundtable seeks to foster ongoing discussions, shared learning, and nimble coordination around emerging issues related to AI and climate change, including: how AI can combat climate change; the environmental impact of AI itself; and strategies for mitigating the impacts of AI energy consumption and climate effects.
