United States Space Force Service Acquisition Executive: A Meeting of Experts

A one-time meeting of experts to discuss the roles, responsibilities, authorities, and access to and ownership of necessary resources from across the military services required by the service acquisition executive (SAE) for the United States Space Force.

Description

At the request of the Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize, plan, convene, and facilitate a one-time meeting of experts to discuss the roles, responsibilities, authorities, and access to and ownership of necessary resources from across the military services required by the service acquisition executive (SAE) for the United States Space Force. In particular, the experts will consider:
(1) Acquisition authorities exercised by the Space Force SAE;
(2) Specific roles and responsibilities of the Space Force SAE and their delineation from the Air Force SAE;
(3) Access to and ownership of necessary resources from across the military services and departments;
(4) Structure of the Space Force SAE's organization; and
(5) Additional legislative actions that may be required.
The meeting will enable Department of the Air Force leaders to obtain first hand technical and governance views of these experts acting in their individual capacities. No report of the meeting will be prepared. At the request of the sponsor, an official transcript of the meeting will be provided following review by the Office of General Counsel.
