The Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB) brings together leading experts in computing, telecommunications, and information technology to provide trusted, evidence-based advice on the technical and policy dimensions of these fields. Its work addresses the social and economic impacts of computing and communications technologies, strategies for sustaining U.S. leadership in these domains, and ways to apply them for broad public benefit.

CSTB’s work includes workshops, public meetings, and influential consensus reports that shape national dialogue and inform decision-making. Its studies examine critical national issues and offer recommendations for government, industry, academia, and civil society. Drawing on its members’ deep expertise and broad perspectives, CSTB identifies emerging trends and challenges in computing and communications, initiating work that advances policy, research, and innovation. It also provides a neutral forum where stakeholders across sectors can examine complex issues constructively.
