The workshop looked at research, programs and policies designed to better meet the mental health needs of women. Participants examined trends in mental health as well as risk and protective factors for diverse populations of women, and they considered the research needed for a better understanding of women’s mental health.

Description
An ad hoc steering committee will be appointed to organize a 1-day, public workshop on "the Intersection of Sex-Gender Differences and Health Disparities of Mental Health Across the Life Course" to discuss crucial issues in women's mental health and important future directions for research, policy attention, and programmatic intervention. Drawing on recent developments in social demography, social epidemiology, public health, sociology, economics and related fields, workshop participants will explore future directions that have significant promise and are expected to have major influences on research and interventions.
A rapporteur will produce a brief proceedings of the workshop consistent with institutional guidelines.
