Building on the findings and recommendations of the National Academies' 2018 report on Sexual Harassment of Women, a committee, under the auspices of the Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education, will convene a two-part workshop to explore the need for and development of tools for department chairs and principal investigators to prevent and respond to sexual harassment. Such tools may include creating and communicating cultural norms and institutional policies; intervening before behavior escalates; negotiating conflict between individuals; and making a formal report of sexual harassment when information is disclosed. Specifically, the workshop will explore the following questions:

1. What are the problems or challenges chairs and principal investigators are experiencing related to preventing and responding to sexual harassment?
2. What tools do they need to support their prevention and response efforts?
3. What tools are currently available to chairs and principal investigators (e.g., prevention readiness checklists, triage tools/decision-making trees, lab culture contracts)?
4. What lessons were learned in the development and implementation process of these tools?
5. What research has been done on the effectiveness of existing tools?
