GUIRR at 40: Reimagining the Triple Helix of Innovation, Investments, and Partnerships. A Workshop

Completed

In celebration of the Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable’s 40th anniversary, the June workshop will reflect and celebrate GUIRR’s rich history, as well as envision the future of innovation. The discussions will focus on how the landscape of investment into the S&T enterprise has changed, new strategic partnerships to enhance efficiency, and how to tackle emerging global challenges.

Description

A planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize a workshop to reflect on and celebrate the 40-year history of the Government University Industry Research Roundtable (GUIRR). The workshop will then pivot to a forward view, envisioning how GUIRR can participate in constructing a more agile and efficient national innovation ecosystem for the next decade. A rapporteur-authored proceedings-in brief will be published summarizing the workshop.

At the conclusion of the workshop, GUIRR will host a special open listening session for GUIRR members and the wider community at the behest of the NAS President to provide input into OSTP's draft National Science & Technology Plan. Workshop participants will also be encouraged to attend President McNutt's State of the Science event taking place the same day.
