Supported by a strategic investment from the Philip and Sima Needleman Family Legacy Fund, the Rapid Response to Emerging Science, Engineering, and Medicine Challenges (RRESEM) initiative provides a sustainable, cross-cutting capability for the National Academies to convene experts, analyze data, assess policy options, and provide advice through timely, high-quality, and mission-aligned products.

The National Academies will formally establish rapid response capabilities and capacities to quickly convene experts, analyze data, assess policy options, and provide advice on the most urgent science, engineering, and medicine challenges in time frames from weeks to a few months.
